The Gleaning - Feature Length Movie

In the summer of 2012, Center on the Square participated with Baby Lonzo Productions to create a feature-length film, called "The Gleaning".  It was shown on August 27, 2012 in the Rialto theater in Searcy to raise money for the new Center on the Square theater.

Shortly after a new family moves into the small Arkansas town of Halcyon, strange things begin to happen--some of the town's children are found dead. Led by the local preacher, the town is set against the newcomers as suspicions grow. Deeply-held prejudices and a clash of cultures come to the surface as more than one long-buried secret is dragged into the light.

"The Gleaning" is the debut project of award-winning filmmakers Brian White & Christopher S. Thompson. It was shot on location in several rural Arkansas towns, and on a micro-budget of $14,000.  It was shot with a skeleton crew, and features local talent exclusively.

The film has received several awards, including "Best Thriller" at the 2012 Bare Bones International Film & Music Festival, and "Honorable Mention" in the Narrative Feature category at the 2011 Los Angeles Reel Fim Festival.  Most recently, "The Gleaning" was selected as the only film in its category (Arkansas Feature) for the 2012 Little Rock Film Festival.  It will screen Saturday, June 2nd, at 8:20 PM at the Riverdale 10 Theatre in Little Rock, Arkansas.  It will also screen on Sunday, June 3rd, at 1:30 PM.

The film's screenplay, written by White & Thompson, was awarded the Bronze prize for Best Feature Screenplay at the 2011 Bare Bones International Film Festival.
