Creating experiences people never forget!

Performing Arts Center on the Square

KidStage, the children’s theater program of Searcy’s Performing Arts Center on the Square, has three workshop sessions per year, fall, spring and summer.  Classes feature basic instruction in theater terminology, stage movement, improvisation and pantomime, voice and characterization.

Center director Lana Hallmark has extensive experience in creative dramatics for children as well as more than 25 years experience in drama and theater instruction as a public school theater instructor and executive director of the Center on the Square. “The workshop is very activity oriented,” Hallmark said, “and it’s designed to not only help the kids learn basic theater techniques, but also to help boost social skills and self confidence. “Besides all that,” she added, “it’s a whole lot of fun.”

“The basic mission of the Center is to bring the performing arts to a wide variety of the community,” said Hallmark. “One of the best ways to foster an appreciation for the arts in the community is to teach our children how fulfilling and enjoyable learning these techniques can be while they develop skills that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.”
